When done wrong Cleaning your brushes can be a very long and tedious process that can even damage the brush. On the other hand, when it’s done correctly it can be easy effortless and effective.

To achieve this easy, effortless and effective process you just have to follow these three steps:

Step 1: Wipe Off As Much Paint As Possible

Keeping time in mind you want to get out as much paint as you can from the brush. This can be achieved by wiping it into a clothe, to get rid off the excess simply dip the bristles into a liquid and keep wiping until you get out the majority of paint in the the brush.

Step 2: Solvent

Paint is not meant to be removed easily so in order to clean it off properly the correct solvent must be used. In the case of water-based paints you can simply use water but for others such as oil paints, you may want to use mineral spirits for best optimal results. Once you have the right solvent you need a bowl or bucket suitable for the size of the brush; fill it with solvent and run the bristles of the brush gently through it.
