Did you know that Grenada has its own locally made chocolate and rum? but lets start with chocolate. It is usually vegan with higher cocoa levels but less sugar levels than quite a few other chocolates, there are several estates where you can visit and learn about the process of making these yummy chocolates and even sample some of the finished product. Now lets move right along to rum though Grenada’s rum may not be as famous as those of its sister islands, it is just as good you can visit the River Antoine Distillery where you can sample Rivers rum but be warned that it has an alcohol content of over 70% when sampling.

Eating Oil down (National Dish),enjoying and partaking of folk dances and songs, dressing in the National colors of Red, Green and Yellow ( also known as Ice, Green and Gold),learning the steel pan you can do all this and so much because the island is always full of its culture especially in February as that is the time that it celebrates its independence. Grenadian Culture is a mixture of British, African, West Indian and French influences so you may see a few familiar acts and names when witnessing the islands culture.

Grenada is consider to be one of the safer islands in the Caribbean. Where as some of the other islands suffer from high murder rates and crime levels Grenada’s rates are very low According to analysis of FBI crime data chances of becoming a victim of crime in Grenada is 1 in 90, but even so tourists are still asked to be careful and warned against going to isolated areas alone.
