5 Top Places to Vacation in the Bahamas

1. New Providence (Nassau)

Best for a first visit, with kids, friends or on your own. Two bridges link it to Paradise Island, and Atlantis is about 30 minutes from the airport.

2. The Exumas

Best for romance. Great Exuma and Little Exuma are calm and laid-back; the Exuma Cays are a playground for the rich and famous. Sapphire water, perfect coastlines and more nature than people.

3. Grand Bahama

Best for relaxing. Beachfront stays are about 15 minutes from the island's international airport, with direct flights from the US and Canada.

4. Andros

Best for nature lovers and divers. It sits beside one of the world's largest barrier reefs, with over 50 ocean blue holes and up to 170 inland ones, some still unexplored.

5. Long Island

Just south of Nassau and split by the Tropic of Cancer. Cliffs and hidden caves on the east side for adventurers, coves and long beaches on the west, including Cape Santa Maria, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
